Introduction

Welcome to the Electrical and Electronic Department. The origins of the department lie in the Vocational Training Center founded in 1977 as Electrical section. The department became as Electrical and Electronics in 1992 when a Bahrain Training Institute was formally designated and established by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and operates under the umbrella of High Council Vocational Training.

In order to meet the expanding demand in Bahrain for quality and top-caliber technical personnel in the field of Electrical and Electronics Technology, the department has introduced a range of possible clients in Bahrain, from school-leavers to business and industrial organization personnel.

Role of Department

Electrical and Electronics department is committed to work in association with public and private sectors and other related organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve the following goals:

  1. To train the job seeker to a level of language competence and basic technical knowledge in electrical and electronic field to permit access to the world of work.
  2. Develop the vocational skills, knowledge and personal qualities necessary to achieve professional success.
  3. To train the job seeker to a level of competence whereby they can engage in maintenance activities for the range of electrical and electronics work.
  4. Prepare trainees to be effective as technicians working under supervision.
  5. Develop all aspects of the trainee’s communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Provide basis knowledge of electrical, electronics and communication technology and related processes.
  7. Provide a basis for further study and career development.
  8. Provide basic problem solving skills and the practical experiences that they can apply in the electrical and electronic work areas and other related processes.
  9. Develop the ability of the trainee to work within a team.

Future Plans

As a training Department, we have a strong bond with the industry in Bahrain. We ought to follow up with the development of electrical and electronics technology. The department’s plans in the future are summarized as follows:
  1. To strengthen the link with the industry in order to keep up-to date with its requirements and hence develop our programmes accordingly.
  2. To form partnerships with leading international corporations in the electrical and electronics industry.
  3. To sustain a national and international identity and reputation.
  4. To co-operate with the neighboring countries in the field of training and exchange our experiences.
  5. To open up programmes in the field of Communication and telecommunications.
  6. Development of craft diploma programmes with enhancement on entrepreneurial skills that will help young Bahrainis establish businesses in electrical and electronics servicing.
  7. Establishment of a development unit completely dedicated to the development of training materials and teaching aids. The unit is to be run by some of our staff.
  8. To open up higher education to wider participation through innovative programmes with an emphasis on training and education for a changing labour market.
